Summer Of Trek

Omg, summer's over. It just recently hit me today was the LAST day of summer vacation. It's with a bitter and (at the same time) a sweet taste of the last day of summer that fills my mouth, I've had a x-factor hangover and a sweet taste of something called happiness. Even though it's the last day/night of summer vacation I'm satisfied (and of course sad -damn I don't want to return to Skövde "the city of eternal darkness and winter"). Many summers have had their themes like "summer of Tekken 3" or "Summer of skating" etc.etc. Well this summer could only best be described with Star Trek. I've seen almost all of the star trek movies, watched star trek a la captain Picard every aftenoon while playing games. I've missed a lot of sun due to the world cup in fotball, hangovers every other day (almost), late nights and long sleep-ins. Well, hey, what's a fellow to do? This summer was extraordinary.

I'll sumerize summer of Trek here:
Star Trek Movie Marathon
The Summer Swamp Festival of 2006
Pennywise at Malmoe Festival
Gaming, blogging, moving and of course the ass bomb! which could be best seen in the movie "man on fire"

Historic events not to forget:
Formula One -> Button won a grand prix
Formula One -> Massa won the next grand prix (today)

Next topic will be featuring the phenomenon "the Pumbo"

Another day of crappy block busters!

As I wrote yesterday..erhm..night...the topic of the day would be two torrent reviews and a review of an acronym. Where to begin? The natural end to start is the acronym: DC. You've all heard it before if you've ever downloaded anything. Yes good folks, it is Direct connect.

Direct connect is crap. Hired "cops" lurking around, stupid rules like "you're not allowed to share files larger than 1gig" or the unsatisfying low download speeds even though you've got a 100mb broadband connection, people canceling you -in other word you can't really download anyting without constantly overwatching the transfer.

Now, what can I say about the bock buster movie Pirates of the caribbean - dead mans chest...the torrent was okay, the download took about an hour and the quality was okay. The movie was crap, kind of like DC - slow, unsatisfying and an abrupt end -like "what the hell?". One of those "lets record two movies in one year beacuse the first one was such a block buster"-movies, a typical sequal, followed with a third one right around christmas. So don't be suprised, I've heard the third one's almost complete and on the way form a safe source (and IMDB too). So don't be suprised if it's better than number 2, but worse than number 1 -just like the Lord Of The Rings triology.

I'll put this in perspective (so I'll get a smoothe crossover) comparing the sequals of movies with the sequals of games. Games in comparishment makes better sequals than the movies. Name any example and prove me wrong. Yes there are a few, but compare it to the movies and you'll see. Okay this was kind of obvious, but I had to...

So I downloaded "block bustering" Titan Quest. The torrent was okay, but without the patches -so I had to download them too. It took about an hour of doing wrong and finally finding an usable crack befor I got to play it. I installed it 12 hours ago, or so, and I've played it since. The only thing that makes this game fun is the co-op mode, with out that mode I'd probably never play it again. The graphics weren't all THAT sweet and the gameplay was repeditative as hell (well it is a hack n slash so that's unavoidable). There were a few sweet solutions that I liked with the Heads Up (tool bar) and a few things like the character amrory menu that really could have been designed better. And the crappiest thing of them all was the memory leeks or something other with the software that constantly dropped the framrate, damaged the sound and made it crash.

Why do so many block busters suck?

Well, it's five in the morning and I have no answer, so it's definitly time for me to shut up.

Since I don't have a PS

Acronyms...all of thease goddamn acronyms. I really thought about this yesterday, when I was writing my post where I used the acronym "PScs2" (later on I got a comment about it). Okay, it's true, and yes IT could be misstaken for PlayStation, or even Counter-Strike 2 -and no I don't have one. Anyhow, acronyms are easily missunderstood, everything depends of context obviously. FPS is one of them; First Person Shooter or Frames Per Second. Well there are thousands of thousands of acronyms and I was bored so I spent a few minutes browsing them. Nothing of interest though. Here's a list anyway. GLHF

Here's an updated pic btw:

"We got to find Banjo, he's missing!"

Hell, where do I start? Okay, yeah, now I know! I was out yesterday, havin' a couple of brews. Today, I had myself a hangover, flipped on the tv and watched the lazy sunday Formula One. I wasn't quite ridd of my hangover so I decided (together with a few friends) to watch some discovery channel-ish stuff; Grizzly Man!

Hell, this was truely one of the better Nature documentaries I've seen. Not that it was very facinating or so, but because it was so...morbid! The plot- if i can call it a plot because it's a documetary - was this: A man gone crazy, moves out into the wilderness, starts to live with the Grizzly Bears, and after about 13 years or so he and his girlfriend gets eaten. The director/storyteller (Werner Herzog) of this movie/documentary sounds a bit like Guvener Arnie, in combo with the lunatic "grizzly man" it's quite fun to watch. Otherwize it's badly presented. It felt like a neverending story, repetitative, same things told over and over again. And there's a funny corener though, speaking and looking like a real corener should -a bit "morbid". Throughout the movie, stupid and somewhat ununderstandable quotes, such as "You must never listen to this. You should not keep it. You should destroy it because it will be like the white elephant in your room all your life." are said. What the hell...am I the only one not quite familliar with this quote? I googled it - a white elephant in your room". I got 22 hits. Not a single one of them could even possibly confirm that this is an outspoken saying. But I found two or so crappy bloggs, here's one about a 31 year old mixed-race woman who has been in denial for the past three decades. and is trying to wake up, and come fully into her life! What a plot!

Now what have I learned today?
You can't chase off a Grizzly bear beating it with a frying pan! and Yes, Sex in the city just might be based on true storys!

The Sea, The Game, The girl

I watched Poseidon today, now that's a crappy movie. A slow begining, a medicore story, and I'm gonna spoil it for you now, so if you don't want to know, don't read anymore; Kurt Russel dies. What the hell?! Kurt, my main man, the one and only true escape artist of our time. He could escape fucking LA in that old movie, or was it NY, or was it both? Anyhow, this was just a stupid ship, an easy escape if you compare. The begining was to slow and it was goddamn lucky I had a big strong cup of coffee and cookies to keep me through that part. Moving on. There was lots of explotions, but way to little sharks. It's a fucking sea with lots and lots of dying/dead people -if it was Jaws there'd be a bad ass motha' shark, it would have been a lot cooler. A smart shark swiming through leaking oil, hunting Kurt & co. Now that would be a real thriller! And why not spice it up with Zombies?! That'd be even cooler. Trapped on a sinking ship, one way out, a smart and evil bad asss mother shark hunting them and hordes of zombies wanting to eat their brains! The same goes for that stupid game Oblivion -hell, that was about as booring as Poseidon, but i lacked strong coffee, and probably that's why I didn't have the energy to keep awake *zzzzzz* Later on today, I watched that movie, what's it called....derailed....sweat sexy Jennifer Aniston was the only thing that made me see it through. This story could also have been spiced up with any of the following three alternatives:
a - a sinking ship
b - A bad ass and smart motha' shark
c - Zombies
Well, the other way around would have done too. Yeah, what poseidon really lacked was an escaping Kurt, not having Jennifer Aniston as a sexy girl, too few zombies and no sharks.

final statement bout poseidon:
Poseidon = derailed = oblivion = zzzzz = a lazy thursday afternoon = okay

admitt it! this would be hell of a lot better!

Gibson style

I've sent my job application, that was a load of fun -if you compare it to moving, which I've done all weekend until today. I have yet another project on the roll now; I've started to write a novel...or something like that at least. When I read the first 10 pages it kinda reminds you of William Gibsons style; the cyberpunk, lone hero with a lot of issues.
